Third Grade: Miss More, 3A

My name is Patricia More and I am in my fifth year of teaching third grade.  I previously taught fifth grade for over 20 years.  I enjoy both grades very much and enjoy the challenges of changing grade levels.

I grew up in Lorain, Ohio.  I have on brother, Jim and a sister, Alice.  I have two nephews, Jay and Bryan and a niece, Kate.  I enjoy spending as much time with them as possible.

I attended Bowling Green State University and I taught one year and St. Stanislaus School in Lorain.  I have been at St. Peter School since 1978.  I currently have three students in my class whose parents are St. Peter graduates and were students in my classroom!

In the third grade, we are working on reading and analyzing news articles to enhance comprehension skills.  We are also working on writing good, detailed sentences and proofreading work before it is turned in.

I teach Social Studies twice a week and Geography once a week.  We are working on communities and differences in environments and how it affects a culture.

We are trying very hard to master multiplication.  Parents come in on Wednesdays to do flashcards with the children.  I appreciate their help very much.

In religion this year,  we are focusing on Jesus and how he comes into our lives.  To reinforce this theme, we are working on positive reinforcement and rewards for kindness towards each other.

In m spare time, I enjoy sewing, reading and watching CYO games whenever I have the chance.
