Kindergarten: Mrs. Karr, KB

The year is quickly coming to an end. The kindergartners have certainly grown in their academic and social skills since the beginning of the year.
We concluded our study of letters and their sounds with our Favorite Letter Person Day. On this day, the children dressed as their favorite Letter Person, paraded around the school in their costumes, and even got their picture taken with their favorite Letter Person.
In science and social studies, we studied a variety of exciting topics, including transportation, oceans, dinosaurs, and characteristics of living things, such as plants, butterflies, insects, spiders, and birds. The children observed the life cycle of Painted Lady butterflies. Letting them fly free in our school garden was a delight to see! The impact of the wheel on transportation led to building and decorating a cart and having an outdoor K-cart race. For our Earth Day celebration, the children, their eighth grade buddies, and parent helpers had the wonderful opportunity to build birdhouses. The birdhouses were graciously donated by Mr. Johansson, a regional manager of Home Depot and father of Cameron in KB.
In closing, we are looking forward to Transition Day, a day for the kindergartners to spend some time with the currrent first grade, participate in a prayer celebration in church, and enjoy refreshments with their families.

Have a safe and happy summer!
