Music Director: Miss Harasym

I have a bachelor degree from Bowling Green State University in Music Education.  I majored on the bassoon, which I began playing in eighth grade.  I started on clarinet in fourth grade and currently play as the principal clarinet in the Euclid Symphony Orchestra.  I currently live in Euclid and teach at St. Peter's on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at St. Joseph-Avon Lake on Mondays and Wednesdays.  I am fully certified in teaching music using the Orff process, which involves the children learning through movement, imagination, play and improvisation.  My favorite aspect about teaching with this process is teaching through play, using what the children already do on the playground and in daily life and applying it to music.  In the summers, I enjoy the outdoors working for the Lake Metroparks.

Thank you for visiting the Classroom Music section of the St. Peter School website.  K-3 classes meet once a week for 30min. of class and 4-8 meet once a week for 40min. of class.

Students learn to explore God's beauty through music.  St. Augustine said it the best, "Those who sing, pray twice."  Each grade of music classes builds upon the previous year starting with beat, melody and musicianship in Kindergarten, all the way to composing rhythm and melodic compositions which are performed in class in 4th-6th grades.  In 3rd grade we explore the recorder and weave it through out the 4-6 curriculum.  Grades K-5 explore audience / performance etiquette  when they put on the Christmas Program in December.  In 7th and 8th we explore the musical periods, genres/styles, reflection and how music is used in every day life.  Christian Contemporary music is used throughout the year in grades 6-8 when appropriate.

Everyone is expected to respect and appreciate music no matter their ability.
